Here it is! 7 Series!

15 02 2010

I totally sound like a fanboy now. As much as I wanted to defend webOS and how cool my Palm Pre is, I won’t be doing that much longer. From the peeks of the new Windows 7 Series, I’m definitely going to get a new phone at the end of this year. It’s been stated that the new Windows phones won’t be out until “the 2010 holiday season.” I wish that meant Cinqo de Mayo or Independence day.

Zune phone is confirmed!

1 02 2010

Engadget is reporting that the rumored Zune phone is going to make it’s debut at this month’s Mobile World Congress.

Now I know what will probably replace my Palm Pre. The poor thing was recently dropped twice in one day. Now I don’t even want to look at it. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this news since I got my Zune HD. I originally got my 30GB for free. I probably wouldn’t have initially bought it but after using it, I found that I liked everything about the Zune except it’s form factor. It is quite the brick. Thanks to Bing Cashback, I upgraded to a 32GB Zune HD at the end of last year. It is way smaller and much more attractive. When people see it, they look quite confused since it doesn’t have a big white circle pad in the middle or white headphones. It’s probably not an iPhone killer but it’ll probably be dubbed that since every new phone gets that tag. Hopefully, it takes off better than the Nexus one seems to have.

More on the UFC coming to VA.

22 10 2009

Here’s an article from today’s Washington Post on the UFC coming to the DC area.

White said that lightweights Nate Diaz (11-4) and Gray Maynard (8-0) will square off Jan. 11 at Patriot Center in Fairfax in the main event of Ultimate Fight Night 20, one in a series of cards that have been televised by Spike TV.

White said that he expects the show’s attendance numbers to confirm his belief that the Washington area is a fertile place to bring bigger shows such as Saturday’s UFC 104, a pay-per-view event that will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. UFC 104 features a main event between current light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

Let’s see how much tickets will cost. I’m sure they’ll have no problem selling them. I see tons of yokels with Affliction and Tapout t-shirts all over the place. Not to mention there’s a Ed Hardy store coming to Tysons Corner. Now that’s another story!

UFC coming to the Patriot Center!

I hope this is true, for the Broncos’ sake.

9 09 2009

ESPN is reporting that Denver and Brandon Marshall are talking. I always believed he was holding out to get more money. I mean he is a top tier receiver not getting what he is worth. This rumor better be true or the Broncos will be a complete mess. McDaniels probably realized that if he botched this, everyone would hate him for singe-handedly destroying Denver without even have played a single regular season game.

I love this quote from one of the commenters:

“I’m going into work tomorrow and telling off the boss. Hopefully they send me home for a week and then double my salary. Wish me luck everyone!”

I’m going to try it!

Dogfish Head’s Fairfax location is finally going to open!

13 08 2009

From what I’ve read on the interweb, the new Dogfish Head Alehouse in Greenbriar Town Center will be opening next week. According to the DFH forums, it will be Tuesday, August 18th. There aren’t many places in the Fairfax area that have good beer. FINALLY! Now I don’t have to drive all the way to Falls Church or Arlington to enjoy some good beer. Let’s hope this news is true and I don’t go there Tuesday and look like a jackass sitting outside.

The dumbing down of America.

4 05 2009

I’ve seen it all now. CNN is covering the supposed drama with Jon & Kate. So FOX News gets crap all the time, but it’s ok for CNN to do a story on TV celebrities? Are they going to do stories on the Hills next? I thought CNN was a credible news source. This puts them on par with People or InTouch. It bothers me that everyone is so interested in what every celebrity is doing. I’ll admit I’m guilty of perusing The Superficial, but I wish I didn’t feel the need to.

Now with the advent of Facebook and Twitter, it’s even easier to find out what your friends and acquaintances are up to. I slowly migrated from Friendster to MySpace to Facebook, but I don’t think I’ll ever twit or tweet or whatever you call it. Now you can e-stalk your friends and they’re probably ok with it! Sometimes I read people’s status updates and wonder why they feel the need to brag. That’s what happens sometimes. I recently read about what some guy did for his girlfriend’s birthday. No thumbs up. Doing nice things for your girlfriend is great. Feeling the need to tell everyone how great you are is lame. Needless to say I chose not to see this braggart’s updates any further.

Apple without Steve Jobs?

21 01 2009

So you may have heard the news about Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs’ leave of absence for health reasons.

co-founder Steve Jobs announced yesterday that the illness he has downplayed for months even as it rendered him strikingly gaunt has turned out to be “more complex” and that he was taking a leave of absence from the company.

Steve Wozniak, Apple’s other co-founder, stated that Apple can go on without Jobs.

Wozniak also revealed that while Jobs is “very important” to Apple’s success and is “one careful mind that has a clear vision”, the tech company has “some incredible people that are followers of Steve himself and the Apple mentality”. Woziak said he felt these employees had learnt good techniques and could “carry on the culture of company while he [Jobs] is gone”.

My friend that works at Apple has sent me some prototype photos of a new Mac Powerbook that they’ve just started working on. He said they’ll be fine without their fearless leader.

“Call in gay” day scheduled for today!

10 12 2008

You read that right! “Call in gay” day scheduled for today.

It’s part of a national grass-roots effort called “Day Without a Gay,” designed to show the size and impact of the gay and lesbian community. Organizers are urging people to “call in gay” — skipping work to volunteer at human-rights organizations.

Energized by the success of last month’s anti-Proposition 8 protests nationwide, gay-rights activists and organizations are planning other actions. Two are happening today coinciding with International Human Rights Day.

I can’t really call in “gay” today since everyone knows I’m not gay and I’m married. Not that I’d really need an excuse anyway.

The gays did get shafted with Proposition 8. I don’t really care if people are gay or not and I don’t see why they can’t get the benefits of being married. I’m still a bit confused about gays that are Catholic. Their own religion tells them it’s wrong to be gay. Why continue to be Catholic then? If I found out some place hated Asians, I don’t think I would go there. That may be apples and oranges, whatever.

I am filing paperwork to become a bank.

20 11 2008

vaburBANK

How does that sound? I need to open a local bank. That logo looks pretty damn cool if I do say so.

General Motor’s financial arm, GMAC Financial Services, applied to become a bank holding company today, a move that could allow it to grab a piece of the Treasury Department’s $700 billion rescue package and give it access to the Federal Reserve’s discount window to receive emergency loans.

That was reported before Congressional leaders rejected the proposed automotive bailout.

If GMAC somehow gets a piece of the bank bailout, GM should be boycotted. The Big 3 feel like they can improve sales somehow. The only way to do this is to make cars that people want and they are not doing that right now. I can’t even think of handful of domestic cars that I would consider, besides the Cadillac CTS. Don’t even get me started on how the execs flew to Washington in their private jets. Apparently, they’re going to try again after Thanksgiving.
