I am filing paperwork to become a bank.

How does that sound? I need to open a local bank. That logo looks pretty damn cool if I do say so.

General Motor’s financial arm, GMAC Financial Services, applied to become a bank holding company today, a move that could allow it to grab a piece of the Treasury Department’s $700 billion rescue package and give it access to the Federal Reserve’s discount window to receive emergency loans.

That was reported before Congressional leaders rejected the proposed automotive bailout.

If GMAC somehow gets a piece of the bank bailout, GM should be boycotted. The Big 3 feel like they can improve sales somehow. The only way to do this is to make cars that people want and they are not doing that right now. I can’t even think of handful of domestic cars that I would consider, besides the Cadillac CTS. Don’t even get me started on how the execs flew to Washington in their private jets. Apparently, they’re going to try again after Thanksgiving.

Cindy McCain Drifts?

10 09 2008

I guess I must’ve missed this a few months ago. In her spare time, Cindy McCain enjoys time on the track.

“My son Jack is the one who really made me get up after the stroke and push myself again,” she tells Whispers. Jack happens to be a racing fan. In defensive-driving courses at Bondurant, Cindy rammed the cars of mock bad guys and took out roadblocks. “She was steady as a rock,” says Mike McGovern, the school’s chief instructor. Cindy was a “gung-ho student”—the first to volunteer to try out the skid car, which trains drivers to recover from spin outs. With Jack, who’s enrolled in the U.S. Naval Academy, she even jumped in a Pontiac GTO at Bondurant to learn the swerving style of street racing called drifting.

I never would have believed it if I hadn’t seen actual footage of her. She should be in the next Fast & the Furious movie.

Most drivers are incompetent.

28 09 2007

With my new job, I don’t have to drive around as much. That’s a good thing. When I was driving half of the day, I grew more and more annoyed with other drivers on the road. It was almost to the point where I wanted to inflict physical damage to others at stoplights.

My biggest peeve would probably have to be people that don’t use their turn signal. If you’re on the road with no one behind you or oncoming, then that’s fine. When there is someone trailing you or in front of you coming the other way/waiting to turn, then you should always use your signal to give them a heads up. I can see if you’re busy holding a phone with one hand and one hand driving, at least you have a reason for being an asshat. If both hands are free, then you have no good reason for not using your signal. In this case, you’re just a big donkey in my book.

Another thing that bothers me is when people exit on to a road and take it to the very limit of the ramp, sometimes passing that point. If everyone merged when they know they have to merge and the people already on the road let people in, then there would always be less of a backup. Of course that’s too easy and logical. Drivers that go to the very end piss me off. It pisses a lot of people off and in turn makes them unlikely to let people in. It’s a never ending cycle.

Coming in to work today I noticed this damned Mazda 6 that is always parked way to one side of a spot. It is usually parked within two inches of the line on the passenger side. The spot next to said Mazda is always empty. Guess why?

Oh, I just thought of another thing. When there is a lot of traffic and people have to stop at a green light because it is backed up beyond the intersection. Why is there always that jerk, that is turning right on to that road, that inches and tries to turn even though he has a red light? Wait your turn! That guy who has the green light didn’t stop so you could go!

Am I just being too fickle?

All the cool cars are overseas.

Toyota Australia launches TRD Aurion. It is the Aussie’s version of the Camry. It is way cooler than my old man Camry. I guess that’s not saying much though.
